For the past couple of years I've been taking KLM to go to Europe. By doing so, I've always passed via Amsterdam, but without never having actually visited the city (due to time between connecting flights). Finally decided that this year I would spend a few days in the city. Let's just say it was well worth it! There is a lot to do in Amsterdam and places to visit: canal cruises (the dinner cruise is amazing), museums (like the Rijksmuseum), the Heineken Experience, Madame Tussauds, historical landmarks (like the Royal Palace, the National Monument) and, of course, the famed Red Light district. Besides that, tons of cafes and restaurants to check out as well.

This year I cut back the amount of photos taken, focusing more on unique perspectives (as well as times of day) or moments in time. Also there are pictures of the newly renovated Riva in Split. Personally, I find that it has become too bland now, but they will be making some more changes for next year (too many people have complained that the new modern look does not respect the old charm it had before), changes for the better I hope. Besides that, Split is still a wonderful city to visit. Also went to see a UEFA Cup game as well and the atmosphere was amazing (no pictures though, but the pictures wouldn't have been able to convey the feeling anyway).

Here are a few pictures I took in San Francisco while attending the ATS (American Thoracic Society) conference. A city known for its hills and history, with excellent places to visit (Northbeach, Fisherman's Wharf, Golden Gate Park) and you must ride the cable cars when you are there. If you have the time, check out the Muir Woods, which is not far from the city. Why? The redwoods are breathtaking.

Another year, another trip to visit family and to rest my soul. Less pictures than previous years (2004 & 2005), but still some nice shots (becoming more picky). This time had a cross-country train trip and was able to get some shots of Zagreb (near the train station, of which one survived the cut, being the least blurry :-)! Also took some night shots in Split this year as well (of which, again one made the cut). In all, a nice relaxing vacation. Maybe next year find some time to go on a few islands (which I have yet to do).

This year decided to pass by Italy, before going on to Croatia, to see my good friend Paolo and his wife Miyuki. Had the chance to see Bologna and Florence (a.k.a. Firenze). The art, the history, the culture..at a loss of words to describe it. So little time and so much to do (and see)! The Uffizi in Florence is a must-see. Got some night shots as well (nice feel to them, even if a tripod would have been nice to have). If you go to Europe, you must pass by Italy (and Croatia, of course :-)).

Went with my good friend Paolo to visit Ottawa, the capital of Canada, and the Canadian War Museum. It was just a day-long excursion from Montreal, so we limited ourselves to the War Museum and the sights around the Parliament building (as well as a good steak meal). It was a beautiful day and the Museum was an incredible experience. I highly recommend it to anyone.

This year I went for summer vacation to Croatia again. Got to see family again and I also had a cross-Croatia roadtrip as well. Even if the vacation was just two weeks, which is short (three weeks would be a better length), it was worth it. This year I have more pictures of Osijek and Nasice compared to last year's trip (but still a lot of pictures of Split and the coast). A bonus for this year was that Split put out celebratory banners for its 1700 year birthday (the blue banners), which were not present during last year's visit.

Went to the 18th Annual North American Cystic Fibrosis Conference this year, which was held in St. Louis. Besides brushing up on what is going on in CF research, I got the chance to explore the city a little. I was not able to visit the whole city, just the parts that were walking distance from the conference (and the hotel I was staying in), like the Arch and the Old Courthouse.

After 15 years, I finally went back to see relatives (and to get away from work!). It was a trip that I will never forget. It was just two weeks (and it got hectic at times), but I had a great time: good company. good weather (most of the time), good food (sometimes too much food!) and unforgettable memories (and stories :-). Most pictures are from the city of Split (on the Dalmatian coast), but there are also pictures from Osijek and Nasice (cities in the Slavonian part of Croatia). If you want more information about Croatia, check out www.hr (in Croatian or English).

A few friends and myself went to NYC (for a weekend) in January 2004 to see the sites and to get away from the deep freeze that enveloped Montreal. Known as the Big Apple, NYC is big, from city blocks to the buildings. A few of the photos here were taken by Barry Moynihan (since my camera battery died on one of the days of the trip).

In November of 2003, I went to Seattle to attend the annual conference of the Society of Free Radial Biology and Medicine. Time was short and most of my time was spent at various talks and poster presentations, but I was able to get a few pictures in (this was also the first time I took pictures with my, then-new, Canon Powershot S400 digital camera).
