If you are a university student and have, well, not paid for your version of Office, now there is a cheap and legitimate way of getting you hands on it: Get Office Ultimate 2007, which retails for $899, for only $64 (in Canada, but the offer is available elsewhere).
What’s the catch? Well you have to have a valid university email address and provide, if asked for, proof of being a student (a copy of your ID card). I think Microsoft finally got it: Give students a cheap price on Office and they shall buy. Remember, this is the Ultimate edition, not the student version (which retails at some places for $109), and it is installable on one desktop and one laptop. If you want to know what the differences between different editions are, just go to Microsoft’s Office edition comparison page (click here).
So go to http://www.theultimatesteal.ca, or http://www.theultimatesteal.com if you are in the US, to get your copy! Offer is valid till April 30th, 2008.
I did and I’m quite happy with it.

Yesterday (Sept. 13th 2006), a young gunman stormed into Dawson College, began shooting indiscriminently. In the end, one student lay dead and 20 others injured. Shocking is a light word. In time more details will emerge about what happened. For now, let our thoughts be with those who have suffered, those who are fighting for their lives and those who have lost someone dear.
My condolences to the DeSousa family for the tragic loss of their daughter, Anastasia.
One life lost is always one too many.

As negotiations proceed to determine the ultimate fate of the Expos, team managers are faced with decisions to be made about Expos-related paraphernalia. Of particular concern is the lovable team mascot Youppi, first brought to the Olympic Stadium in 1979. With the move of the Expos to Washington D.C. fear has developed about what to do with Youppi. Petitions have been started to save our star. Team managers have decided to trash Youppi and use the mascot for a more philanthropic purpose.

An excess of 35 Youppi suits have been found in the bowels of the Stadium still in functional order, and have been given to local vagrants all over the Montreal area. Team managers claim that the suits will at least serve some use keeping the homeless warm during this winter. Therefore a caution to parents to keep children away from Youppis encountered on the streets as even if they seem to be the playful prankster on the outside, they may be a crack-addict-hungry-for-your-wallet on the inside.

The Cup was won and I had the joy of watching it happen (on TV). The Finns played a great game but Team Canada showed what it was made of. The Finns kept coming back, but Canada finally put it away at the beginning of the 3rd period with a goal by Doan (yes, the checking line got into the scoring action). Let’s see: gold medal at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, World Championship titles in both 2003 and 2004, and now the World Cup (and a perfect 6-0 record). Enough said, time to enjoy the moment. Good work Team Canada!

Again Canada came to life in the second period, but the Czechs made a game of it. It took a goal from Lecavalier in overtime to get the win. All in all a good game, a closer contest than the game against Slovakia. Another thing which makes me happy: Lemieux finally gets the goal he deserves! He’s been a presence during the whole tournament and after all those assists comes a goal. Luongo did a good job in goal (especially when he made those saves in the 3rd period without his stick), but I would love to see Brodeur back in for the final against Finland (we shall see if he’s fit to play by then).
