Planning to give the site a face lift in the near future (once I have the time) and get some new content up online (especially pictures from trips).

The “Friends & Fun” pictures are offline since I need to rework the whole structure of that section (became too tedious to manage). In addition, I need to rework other sections/features of the site (for example: the digg feed no longer works properly).

So stay tuned for a redesign and tune up… as time permits.

It’s the student association I’m part of (and actually co-heading) and we organize activities throughout the year for our members (as well as their friends and family, if they want to participate).

I used the open-source concept in creating the new site (got the template online from an open-source repository, gave credit to the original author and made the necessary modifications), which cut down on the time needed to get it up (the core of the site was done in 48hrs, with about a week needed to migrate all the content). Still some work to be done, but all in all quite happy with the results (so are the visitors to the site). So go check it out at http://meakins.mcgill.ca/spire/.

Currently migrating all my posts to the new system. Going to get the content back up ASAP.

For the near future, the site will be a work in progress, till I get the galleries back up, all the posts. etc. Till everything is updated, you’ll notice some pages don’t look right (due to code changes) and even some pages missing in action.

Why the change? My old provider did not support MovableType anymore (they made server changes which stopped MT from functioning, without informing me), so I was forced to change hosting companies. Since I’m an avid Diggnation listener, I knew about GoDaddy and I decided to go with them.

Took a lot (nice) pictures in Italy but less in Croatia (since I took quite few pictures in previous years). If you go to Europe on a trip and need your dose of history (and beauty, and culture, and art…), Italy and Croatia are prime destinations to go to. Also took the opportunity to re-arrange the “Photo Galleries” section, since it was getting too big for just one page (feel free to give me feedback on the changes via email).
