All I can say is that Gretzky put together a fine team for this World Cup. Overconfidence could have been a problem, but it wasn’t. Slovakia played some good defensive hockey, but then the second period came: In less than 10 minutes, Canada went up by 4 goals. Incredible goals, beautiful passing, the team showed what it was capable of. All the players were out there giving their best, from Lecavalier to Lemieux, Sakic to St.-Louis. One more goal in the third period and it was a done deal. Best thing: Brodeur finally got the shutout he deserved and it is the first one by a Canadian goalie in international play! Ahhhh, nice to get a such a good dose of hockey. Next opponent: Czech Republic.
